2011
I have curiously bad long-term memory, in the sense that I can’t tell when something happened in the past, anywhere from a couple months to many years back, even though I might be able to remember the event distinctly. Is this a condition and what is it called?
Anyhow, the things I do remember:
- My music getting featured on SoundCloud — good start to the year
- ORD loh! Leaving the Singapore Armed Forces after completing my two-year conscription wasn’t as easy as many make it out to be. Though I still wouldn’t make it a career choice, I had some amazing experiences and learnt a lot about myself. And got fit.
- Finally watching 65daysofstatic, being first in line aftershow
- The Whitest Boy Alive in KL — I’m not much for dancing but this was fun
- Mono, Furniture, Akta Angkasa in KL — I want to move to KL and play in an experimental rock band
- Amateur Takes Control’s opening set for Envy — Junaidi is a beast
- Funny Mountain tau huay (soybean curd) in Ipoh is the best tau huay in the world
- Applying for a dozen jobs — not worth remembering, except for the time I made these infographics
- Baybeats this year was, genre-wise, my favourite, but I didn’t enjoy it 100%, running back and forth between stages and entertaining different groups of friends and acquaintances
- B-Quartet’s last show. I hope they come back.
- toe. In. Bangkok.
- Finding the right band — and staying in it — is pretty much an exercise in social skills more than any creative ability. I hope it lasts
Summary: my life is music and tau huay
Also there’s probably important things I forgot, because, like I mentioned, I am good at forgetting things
