Not Really An Acronym

dude where’s my car(boxymoron.com)

Bluehost.com just took my entire account offline. I quote:

… has been deactivated (reason: site causing performance problems). Although your web site has been disabled, your data may still be available for up to 15 days, after which it will be deleted.

Seriously? My data MAY still be available for up to 15 days? That’s really nice to know on a Monday midnight with a fever coming on. Site causing performance problems? You can’t get it up these days? Don’t blame me bro.

UPDATE: so apparently I had too many backups. About a dozen 20-megabyte archives of various MySQL databases. 240MB on an account that was advertised as having unlimited disk storage (or I think 100GB when I signed up maybe 4 years ago). Great job guys.

They’ve restored my stuff (read: some guy probably in an outsourced minimum-wage tech support centre clicked a button) within an hour of contacting support, but man that is some bullshit from an otherwise decent host.
