Calling everyone in Singapore who isn’t going for Jimmy Eat World

It’s okay, we’re going to have an even better time away from the alt rock kids tonight. Come to the Esplanade for some great Indonesian bands who are in town for the weekend.

L’Alphapha call themselves ambient indie pop. Despite the glaringly obvious Sigur Ros influence (you’ll know once you hear the first few notes of the piano), they manage to remain original and interesting on stage. I’ve got my lunch money set aside for their debut album… they’d better bring enough copies.

Themilo are an established shoegaze group. Expect fuzzy guitar and haunting vocals on top of modern indie/alt arrangement and drums.
