Anyone in KL know where I can find any Akta Angkasa CDs?
Kontak! x Deepset
Deepset sounding as good as ever, with visuals projected onto the restored Suffolk House in Penang, Malaysia. For DA+C Festival 2011.

furnitureband:

Yes everyone, we will be returning to Baybeats this year.
The band has had some pretty memorable experiences playing for the festival in the past so we’re really excited to be back and playing in an absolutely fantastic slot on Sat, 9pm, just after the brilliant Moscow Olympics (PH) and right before Buddhistson (JP), who will also be returning to the festival after playing some really unreal sets in the past. Talk about being in fantastic company.

Furniture + Moscow Olympics + Buddhistson

Picked up a copy of I>JPN (postcards by Driv Loo + music by Flica) at Pipit Wonderful Market, a delightful little arts & crafts festival we found quite by accident in KL’s Central Market
Furniture’s second album They Made Me Out Of Dreams You’ve Forgotten will be online 1/1/11. Here’s a free download of False Start, an old favourite that’s finally on record.
Teaser for “The Great Glass City”, They Will Kill Us All’s new single. Footage from their most recent trip here — they played a wonderful set with lots of new material and I’m glad I got to witness an important moment in the band’s growth.
The full song is available on their MySpace now!
BFM That Music Show: Interview with Ronnie Khoo (Furniture)
BFM 89.9’s That Music Show on the 1st of August 2010. We speak to Ronnie Khoo, frontman of indie pop band Furniture on their upcoming album, which is due out soon. We also listen to Ronnie’s picks and preview a couple of Furniture tracks off their new record.
If you just want to listen to the previews, the first track is Vacancies starting 3:20 into the podcast, and the second is the sprawling Monuments at around 21:30. Sound quality’s pretty nasty but I love what I’m hearing.

triponthis:
Furniture - False Start
The greatest Malaysian export since the Ramly burger, Furniture have been called “shoegaze with a punch”. While their debut album Twilight Chases the Sun (2005) had a huge post-rock vibe, the upcoming release is supposed to feature more singing from frontman Ronnie.
False Start is actually a pretty old piece, but it fits right in with the vocal-centric concept. Ron’s voice isn’t the most fantastic, to be honest, but he belts out his lines with such earnestness that you can’t help but bop along. They’ve also managed to squeeze massive sounds out of a multitude of instruments, as usual — from screaming synths to trashy guitar to trumpets and even a layer of vocals at the end.
I don’t even know what to label this, but it reminds me of some of the louder baroque pop pieces by Broken Social Scene. Just give it a shot, I suppose. You might be pleasantly surprised by this audio post.
So psyched. I can finally stop abusing that old live bootleg and put this on repeat. You can grab the MP3 off Ronnie’s stream (well I don’t know if you actually can) here.
