Ferns - On Botany

This little indie pop masterpiece is a free download for a limited time. Ferns includes Adrian and Johan from another KL favourite of mine, Furniture.

Another free download from The Lard Brothers. It’s the Bonsai Warriors EP:
This is our second remix album. We released one on Singapore’s National Day 2009.
We did a couple of remixes for fun since then and some of them were done in exchange with our friends for them remixing our tracks.
The idea of the title ‘Bonsai Warriors’ came from one of our common hobbies: model-kit building (not limited to Gundam model kits).
As one of our guys would say, “Cutting up the plastic bits is like crafting a bonsai tree. It requires patience and effort. A samurai does not use his sword or train swordcraft all the time.”
“Sometimes, he hones his soul through bonsai.”
You should hone your own soul too.
Not through bonsai. But model-kit building.

Uncommon Fields sees B-Quartet launching their 2nd full-length album Conformity Has Replaced Consciousness. Formed in 1999, the six-man act has been known to incorporate jazz, folk and rock into their unique genre of music.

The band shares their new ethos: “The music invites listeners back to an intersection where compulsions inform us of every misdirection conjured for tastebuds to follow. Here we are, back at the confluence of eitherness, sitting above rooftops breathing for a better morning in the coming years. This is consciousness reinterpreted, misinterpreted, interpolated and fundamentally reintroduced for the listeners, not the audience.”

Expect stunning musical passages by the musically intuitive band and intelligent, yet evocative lyrics by the spoken word poet frontman.

Date: Sunday 11 April 2010
Time: 2130
Venue: The Esplanade Recital Studio
Tickets are going for S$25.00 at all SISTIC outlets from 25th Feb

Forget the big words. Bani Haykal and friends call themselves a post-apocalyptic rock quartet and you won’t regret finding out what that means come April… This season is really shaping up in terms of potential weekends spent rocking out.
