9:42pm. I like it here.
This has been my office for nearly 4 months. Nearly 4 months since I went into web development full time. Went in with zero knowledge of our platform and now I think I’m doing quite alright with it — the boss jokes that I’m “sibeh kiang” sometimes. I come in late most days, and I get to solve real problems on the web. By some happy coincidence the coffeeshop downstairs is owned by the same guy who used to run the place near church years ago, and this same auntie still works for him, and it feels good to order my tea from her.
In some ways I still have no idea what I’m meant to do in life, though these four months have been a homecoming of sorts — I was always a huge nerd, I built my own computers and kept no friends through primary school, it was amazing, and those later years spent dabbling/studying/failing in print/web design, photography, film (even advertising, TV, radio)… those were great, I did so many things in school that I would never have had the chance to otherwise, and that’s the only justification I need when people ask me why I didn’t just go to college with my grades or study IT, I had a hell of a ride, did you? but it always felt like going in circles, and not concentric ones, but circles that sometimes brought me closer to where I thought I wanted to be, and oftentimes further.
So I’m pretty glad I get to be a regular geek again, and talk about regular geek things, even if I’m tired all the time and don’t care about regular geek things anymore. I come in late in the mornings, and now I have the room to myself, Arms and Sleepers’ Matador is on iTunes, and the train is 2 minutes away but I think I’ll take the slower bus home.
A photo from Saturday’s show. Also:
ATC will be playing at the Esplanade Waterfront Stage on 27th February for some event which I’m not particularly sure about as details have not been out yet (I wonder why). From what I heard, Deepset from KL and Everybody Loves Irene from Indonesia will be playing as well.
Can’t wait!
Sometimes I take really stupid pictures on Photo Booth and completely forget about them afterwards.
This is great :D reminds me of these guys
